Night Owl Optics Night Vision has been producing night vision for the consumer for many years. Their equipment is designed to be used by outdoors enthusiasts. They produce some of the best selling monoculars, binoculars and head mounted goggles on the market. They also make the National Geographic series of monoculars and binoculars.
The first thing to consider when choosing night vision is how and under what conditions you plan to use it. Night owls NexGen monoculars help you see a little better in low light conditions. They are a much better alternative to a flash light in total darkness conditions. In woods with heavy undergrowth , they do a great job of exposing the things that hide there.
The best selling in the Night Owl Optics NexGen series are the 2x, 3x and 4x monoculars. For higher magnification they offer the Galactic View NexGen with a 5x, 60mm lens system. The GView is for long reach viewing and stargazing. The
Night Owl Marine 4x42 is a water proof version of the NexGen monoculars. This monocular is suitable for just about any of the wet conditions you can throw at it.
The Night-Owl--3x42 Binocular is one of the best on on the market. The NOB3X has dual image tubes and improved multi-coated optics.
Night Owl goggles are light weight and have a simple push button release to remove them from their head mount or simply flip them up and out of the way. The
NOBG1 goggle can used hands free. It is light weight and provides obstacle evading depth perception
Monocular, binocular or goggle, Gen 1 devices are the cheapest and most available night vision devices on the consumer market. Consumer Generation 1 is Night Owls specialty. All of their equipment is made to brighten and boost image contrast in darker conditions with in-built IR illumination.
Night time environments are usually rich with near infrared light. NVDS are sensitive to this particular light but there are instances when just a little more is desired. The near infrared is invisible to most humans and seen by only a few animals. Aside from the dull red glow of the illuminator element, the IR light is only going to be evident to another NVD and a handful IR sensitive animals.
Night Owl image intensifier tubes have a resolution of somewhere between 32 lp/mm and 36 lp/mm. This measurement is taken at the middle of the image. As you look to the edges of the image some distortion becomes apparent. A good deal of the Gen 1 edge distortion typical in Gen 1 is removed by the Night owl optics design. Their generation 1 devices are high quality, versatile and the prices are some of the best out there.
